TTIP - what it is and why we are opposing it

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a free trade agreement currently being negotiated between the European Union and the United States. The aim of the agreement according to proponents is to create growth and jobs on both sides of the Atlantic by removing trade barriers to boost and facilitate the buying and selling of goods and services, as well as investment in each of the economies.

European citizens' initiative against TTIP - sign the petition

We call on the institutions of the European Union and its member states to stop the negotiations with the USA on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and not to ratify the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) with Canada.

South Lanarkshire Greens join East Kilbride locals in national day of action against TTIP

News date:
22nd Aug 2015

East Kilbride people took to the streets this Saturday to raise awareness about a secret deal with the USA that is set to hand more power to big corporations. Campaigners say the deal could lower our environment, food and working standards to dangerous American levels if passed. It could also give big businesses the privilege to sue the government in secret courts if British laws dent their profits. The day of action in East Kilbride was part of a nationwide effort coordinated by independent campaign group 38 Degrees.
