Donald Trump, climate change denier and anti-wind campaigners’ best chum, has been described by political pundits as sexist, racist, a moron and a bully. The Pope says he is not Christian. Amen to that. Add to this the charge of hypocrite as he has invested thousands of dollars in wind power generation with the Florida firm, Nextera Energy.

In case you haven’t noticed it’s been pretty wet across the UK this winter. As a kayaker I usually like a bit more rain than most, but when people are being flooded out of their homes and infrastructure seriously damaged it stops being fun!
Unlike in England and Wales in Scotland we have generally been pretty good at not building on flood plains – places that are flooding like Hawick town centre and houses close to Tweed Green in Peebles  are long established, so what’s changed?

Why 'frack or freeze' is a false choice

councillor Mark Ruskell, Scottish Greens and MSP candidate for Mid-Scotland and Fife, responds to a CommonSpace column by Calum miller calling for more debate on fracking. He convincingly argues that energy efficient housing is the only way to address fuel poverty and reduce GHG emissions.

Global Footprint Network

An ecological or environmental footprint measures the amount of nature's resources an individual, community or a country consumes on a given year. This includes the amount of land and water needed to produce the goods consumed and assimilate/absorb the wastes generated. The world is currently consuming 1.6 planets, with the UK average at 3.5.
The Global Footprint Network is the think tank which first established the data-driven metric and calculates Footprint Accounts to help us work towards a one-planet future.
